Source: The Palm Beach Post, Fla.self storageJuly 19--RIVIERA BEACH -- A UPS employee who allegedly tried to steal four cellphones valued at more than $1,500 from the company's building on Avenue P was arrested Wednesday and is facing a charge of grand theft, city police said.Police allege Jamir Lawrence, 20, of West Palm Beach hid four cellphones in his boots as he tried to pass barefoot through a guarded gate and a sensor.Lawrence was released Thursday from the Palm Beach County Jail on $12,000 bond.A security guard for UPS told city officers that a sensor began to beep as the shoeless Lawrence tried to walk past it.Lawrence was asked to place his boots on the counter and go through again. The sensor did not beep on the second attempt, the probable-cause arrest affidavi迷你倉 said.The security guard examined the boots and found the cellphones inside. Lawrence's personal cell was sitting on the counter.Police took Lawrence into custody and questioned him. He allegedly told officers he found the cellphones hidden under a table near an office vending machine.He indicated that he took them to sell them and make extra money to pay his expenses and feed his 2-year-old child, the affidavit said.He allegedly took a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2, an LG phone and two Samsung Galaxy S 4 phones.
