Porsche 911 Turbo S and 911 GT3 unveiled here by race-driver Timo BernhardPorsche agent Stuttgart Auto did a twin launch at its flagship showroom in Leng Kee Road yesterday.self storageThe new Porsche 911 Turbo S and track-ready 911 GT3 were unveiled by factory race-driver Timo Bernhard. The launch of the GT3 marks the brand's return to the Le Mans 24 Hour endurance race this year. Bernhard is part of the driver line-up that includes Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Formula One ace Mark Webber.Bernhard describes the new 475-horsepower GT3 as "a car you drive to the (Nurburgring) Nordschleife, race a few laps and drive back home".The GT3 redlines at 9,000rpm, hits 100km in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 315kmh.Those numbers are surpassed by its more accomplished sibling, the Turbo S. The all-wheel-drive flagship race car flies to the century mark in 3.1 seconds and on to a top velocity of 318kmh.Yet, it is said to have a fuel economy of 9.7 litres/100kmh.The new Turbo S boasts a wider body, wider tracks, an adaptive rear spoiler and, for the first time, a front lip that extends outwards at high spe迷你倉ds to give the car better downforce in front. Both the GT3 and Turbo S are powered by a 3.8- litre flat-six engine. The Turbo's, of course, is enhanced by twin turbochargers that churn out 750Nm of torque from just 2,200rpm.The GT3's block, with 1cc less at 3,799cc, is normally aspirated, but revs a lot higher.Peak torque of 440Nm is available only at 6,250rpm.Clearly, both cars have more power than you need for everyday driving. But the Turbo S is probably more tailored for long-distance cruises and intra- city jaunts. The GT3's price starts from $633,688 without COE, while the Turbo S starts from $849,388. The slightly less illustrious Turbo starts from $716,288.Stuttgart Auto says the prices would have been much higher if not for "factory support".Life! understands that the Turbo S would have been close to $1 million otherwise.Meanwhile, Stuttgart Auto has garnered 70 bookings for the Macan, Porsche's new compact SUV that is set to arrive as early as the second quarter. The Macan, based loosely on the Audi Q5, is expected to boost Porsche sales by as much as 40 per cent.Christopher Tan迷你倉將軍澳
